Saturday, we cleaned up our condo and finished the laundry. Bryce was on a low fiber diet and on Sunday he could only have clear liquids. We got up and went to church in Scottsdale. Matt did the research to find us the closest ward. It was also nice to have a time change, coming to Arizona from Utah. We gained an hour! We went to the 9:00 schedule and enjoyed the meeting. Their theme for this particular Sunday, was missionary work. Tom picked up a few ideas for our ward on encouraging missionary work. (On Fast Sunday, June 1, our ward is fasting for missionary opportunities.)
After church, we packed a lunch and headed out to see some of the beautiful sights in Arizona. We were all excited to see the Phoenix and Mesa Temples. It was hot and very bright, so some of our pictures have squinty eyes. Although we didn't get to go inside the temples, there is still a special spirit there and we still felt the need to be reverent and respectful.
We took a nice walk to the Unicorn Horn with the kids in the evening. Bryce had started his cleansing and was sticking close to the bathroom. He is a trooper! We had to be there at the clinic on Monday at 7:45 a.m. for his scope.
Monday we checked Bryce in and they had him swallow a large capsule with the camera. Then they did the endoscope (going through the mouth) and they took several biopsies to see if they could find anything. We are still waiting for the results of the camera capsule and some of the biopsies. He wore that contraption until 11:00 pm Monday night, after the lights quit blinking. The camera took 2 pictures per second and it flashed a light for every photo taken, and photos were recorded in the box Bryce wore. Monday wasn't a very good day for Bryce- as he couldn't keep anything in his tummy for several hours after his surgery. He was so hungry, but nothing stayed down.
Tuesday morning we returned the equipment. This was our last visit to the Mayo Clinic and Matt decided to play a few songs before we left for our condo. Bryce and I headed to the Medical Records department to request all of his records be sent to us, including all imaging. Then we headed back and cleaned up things at the condo and spent some time in the pool with Emma and Gracie. Bryce took a day off and spent some time playing with his brothers. We took the kids to dinner one last time and found a sweet note on our door, "Thank you for being my nabier." (neighbor) This totally made our day!
Our lead doctor is out of town until the end of May and he promised he would call us back with answers the first of June. This will also give them time to gather all of the lab results.
We have been very blessed! Although this has been a long journey and trial, we know that we have received guidance and help from our Father in Heaven. We feel His love for us in the tender mercies that are placed on our path.
