Matt, Bryce and Tyler at the Brigham City Temple
Well, this is really hard to write because the keyboard is really weird, but oh well. Well, I made it to the CCM and the food here is really good. It is a lot better than the food in the Provo MTC. From now on we are going to be speaking and listening to pure Spanish. It is going to be tough but I know that I can do it, because the Lord won't give us any challenge we can`t overcome. Well, I love you guys a ton and I believe that my P-day is on Saturday. (I think that is what they told me) Well, I don`t know the mailing address yet, but I will try and get it as soon as possible. I will either send a short letter or I will wait to tell you on my P-day.
Anyway, so the cool story that I told you I`d tell. So, Elder Frame, Elder Olson, and I were in line to get dinner at Cafe Rio. So we were just talking then this lady comes up and wished us good luck on our missions. But that`s not all, she gave us $25 to split between us three for our last meal in the U.S. I really didn't want to accept the money, because that was a lot. But she also told us that one of her sons served in Guatemala (she somehow knew we were going to Guatemala). It is truly amazing to see how the Lord will bless us.
Well, I got to go. I love you all a ton and will talk to you later.
Adios!
Elder Bryce Hales
*Note from Mom~
We had arranged for everyone to be home by 6:00 pm on September 11, for our phone call from Bryce. We waited and waited.... We knew he was flying out of Salt Lake at 8:22 pm and would arrive in Los Angelos at 9:30 pm, so we thought he had missed the opportunity to call us. We put the girls to bed and the older boys waited up with Tom and I until about 11:00 pm. Remembering that there is a time zone change and that he would not arrive in L.A. until 10:30 pm (Utah time). We placed the phone by the bed and fell asleep. At about 12:30 am, we woke to the phone ringing. I nudged Tom to answer it and he grabbed the phone, but wasn't quite sure how to answer it. So, he passed the phone to me and I answered. It was so good to hear Bryce on the other end. He sounded tired, but happy.
Bryce told us about his travels and that they were to fly from L.A. at 1:45 am. and would arrive in Guatemala around 6:30 am on Wednesday. There were 30 missionaries traveling to Guatemala and there were only 3 pay phones at the Salt Lake airport. He talked with us for about 25 minutes. I woke the kids to say hello. Matt was so excited to speak to Bryce and ask him about the MTC. Matt had carried the phone with him for most of the evening, waiting for Bryce to call.
This morning when we woke the kids up for school, Emma was the only one that didn't remember talking with Bryce. She was a little upset that she didn't remember her conversation with him. We had to do some cheering up and tell her to be sure to send Bryce a letter.
Bryce was so excited to get to Guatemala and to try some of the food he had heard so much about. He loved serving as District Leader with such a great group of missionaries.
