October 2, 2012 Surprise E-mail

Dear Mom,

Well, sorry that you didn`t get to know that we would email today. But it was last minute for us too. Anyway for my scripture I wanted Alma 31:34-35. It is a really good scripture.

"O Lord, wilt thou grant unto us that we may have success in bringing them again unto thee in Christ.
Behold, O lord, their souls are precious, and many of them are our brethren; therefore, give unto us, O Lord, power and wisdom that we may bring these, our brethren, again unto thee."

Anyway, so a quick story about my day in the city today. Well, all of the Latino missionaries are gone, so the CCM President takes all of the new missionaries (us) and we go out into the city for a tour. We had to rent a bus, which was actually a really nice bus, and we headed out for the city. We first stopped at a huge relief map of Guatemala. It was pretty cool. Don`t worry, I have pictures. But also sorry, because I am not in them. Anyway, it shows the elevations and stuff and it was pretty cool. Also some of the architecture down here is really cool. I got a few pictures of them too. Anyway, after our visit to the map, we went to the market. The President just let us loose. It was pretty cool. So we walked around the market and saw some really cool things, but I didn`t get anything. I thought about it, but I knew that I couldn`t afford to buy anything due to the weight of my suitcases.

So, after our little tour in the market, which was really fun, we went to Wendy`s. The food was really good, but not as good as our Wendy`s. But it was really good. So, that basically was our little tour of the city, nothing really crazy happened so no really big stories, but it was a lot of fun.

Well, I hope that everything is going well at home and that everyone is working hard. Just this past week I have been reading about the Anti-Nephi-Lehis and I picked up on so much stuff that I never noticed before. They are one of the greatest examples of Charity. I love reading the scriptures because I always find things to help me and to help others out during my reading. It is amazing. Well, sorry that this will be my email for the week, but they changed it due to conference this week. Anyway, I love you all a ton and will see you in two!

Letter to Tyler:

Well Ty, that is awesome! Also that is great that school is going well. Just keep up the good work and work hard. Don`t fall behind in any of your classes. It`s not worth it.

Well things in Guatemala are really great. Right now I am fighting a cold or something, but other than that, everything is great. Just the other day we were playing soccer and it started to pour, just like our volleyball game. It was crazy. It is amazing how fast the rain can come, and how fast it falls. Well, the Spanish is coming along slowly but surely. My companion is really funny.  The food down here is really great. We have a wide variety of foods, such as Mexican, Chinese, American, and a lot of beans and rice. Also eggs. The food though is amazing.

Well, did you get to watch any Phineas and Ferb before September 19? If not that is ok. Yeah, as a district we did a really weird thing. We assigned each person a Pokemon based on how they look. I turned out to be Growlithe (have no idea how, but oh well). Elder Funk was either going to be Slowpoke or Machoke, but we decided Machoke. The others consisted of Raticate, Ivysaur, Hypno, Goldeen, Squirtle, Venomoth, Tauros, Rhydon, Brock (yes the gym leader), and Doduo. I will give details later when I can send pictures. Well bro, I love you a ton and hope that all goes well.

Keep up the great work and remember that God will help you with anything. You just have to ask for his help.

Letter to Matt:

How is life at home? Are you going to school right now? How is working going? Things down here are going just great. I am getting really excited to go out into the field, but I know that the Lord wants me here at the CCM right now. Anyway, I hope that everything goes well and that you find the perfect one to marry. Yes that is right, you don`t have to wait for me to get home before you are married. Just keep on looking and dating. Well, got to go. Love you a ton!
